Being a Xaverian is Living in a Family

One of the characteristics of the Xaverian communities is the family style.
When they commit themselves to living in poverty, chastity, and obedience they become members of the same family.
Only with this family style and in a community do the vows make sense.
Poverty for the Xaverians means to share every income within the community and to share with others, mostly with those most in need, every belonging that the community owns.
Chastity is the choice of the Xaverians not to build another family outside of the Xaverian community which is their family. Chastity is what allows the Xaverians to love everyone as a unique human being and invite everybody to become part of one family.
Obedience is the full availability of the Xaverians to be assigned to a different mission or place worldwide. The Xaverians are always available for new assignments and commitments.
